Whittled (pocket knife)Bobbins
In Tom Huetsons's book *Lace and Bobbins* he says:
'The term 'pocket knife' is a name which I have given them myself. These
were bobbins which were made and shaped by hand, as distinct from those that
had been turned on a lathe. I feel sure that the majority, if not all, were
the work of amateurs, often labours of love by young men as presents for
their sweethearts.'
