Antique bone lace bobbin by Bobbin Brown.. A statue of the author, John Bunyan", was erected in Bedford in the year 1874. This is one of the bobbins that were made and sold to commemorate the occasion.

Bobbin Brown of Cranfield was born 1793 and died 1872. His major occupation was bobbin maker, which was unusual, as most bobbin makers did woodworking or other work to produce more income. Perhaps this is why he listed himself as a "pauper" on the last census before he died. His work is lovely and distinctive.
